Bangladesh registered their first victory in the 2016 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup when they beat hosts Thailand by 35 runs at Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok on Monday.
Chasing Bangladesh's 88/6, the home side were skittled out for just 53 with nine deliveries still remaining.
Seamer Panna Ghosh picked up four wickets conceding only nine runs while captain Rumana Ahmed bagged three wickets giving away just five runs. Opening bowler and pacer Jahanara Alam also chipped in by taking two wickets.
In what was a disappointing batting performance, only two Thailand batters – Nattakan Chantam (21) and skipper Sornnarin Tippoch (10) - reached double figures.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted a modest total of 88 after being asked to bat first. Opener Sanjida Islam top-scored with 38 off 48 balls while Fargana Hoque and former captain Salma Khatun added 15 and 10 not out respectively.
Suleeporn Laomi was the most successful Thailand bowler with three wickets for 18 runs.
Bangladesh, currently at fourth position in the six-team points table, take on Pakistan on Wednesday at the same venue at 9am.
