Aminul Islam Bulbul has been named the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, becoming the 16th person to hold the position of the country's cricket governing body.
The former national team captain was appointed a board director by the National Sports Council Thursday afternoon, following the cancellation of Faruk Ahmed’s nomination the previous night.
Later in the evening, BCB directors elected Aminul as president in a board meeting.
A veteran of over a decade in international cricket, Aminul represented Bangladesh in 13 Test matches and 39 One Day Internationals.
He also holds the distinction of scoring the country's first-ever Test century.
After retiring from international cricket in 2002, he began coaching in Bangladesh before settling in Australia with his family.
Over the past decade, Aminul has served in various roles at the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council.
Aminul will serve as BCB president until October.
