A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant for Bangladesh national team cricketer Al-Amin Hossain for non-appearance, in a case filed by his wife over domestic violence.
Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Tofazzal Hossain passed the order since Al-Amin did not appear before the court during Wednesday’s hearing.
Al-Amin's legal counsel Abdur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune that the accused was participating in a four-day match of the National Cricket League in Khulna which started on October 10.
Earlier, the accused got bail through his lawyer on October 6. He also submitted a written statement to the court, claiming he divorced his wife on August 25.
On September 7, Ishrat Jahan filed the case under sections 15(1)(A)(B)(C)/16(5)(6) of the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act, 2010 at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
After recording her statements, the court took cognizance of the charges and summoned Al-Amin to appear before it on September 27.
According to the case statement, Ishrat Jahan and Al-Amin got married in 2012 and they have two children. Al-Amin had allegedly staying away from home for the past two years and not providing the family with necessary maintenance per month.
Al-Amin is also accused in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
