A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to Bangladesh national team cricketer Al-Amin Hossain in a case filed by his wife over domestic violence.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shafiuddin passed the order after his lawyer Abdur Rahman Sumon filed a petition before the court seeking bail for his client.

After hearing the petition, the court granted bail to Al Amin upon a bond of Tk5,000 in the case.

The court also fixed October 6 for the next hearing in the case.

On September 7, Ishrat Jahan, wife of Al-Amin, filed the case under sections 15(1)(A)(B)(C)/16(5)(6) of Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act, 2010 with Dhaka chief metropolitan Magistrates court.

After recording case statements of the complainant, the court took cognizance of the charges and summoned Al-Amin to appear before it on September 27.

According to the case statement, Ishrat Jahan and Al-Amin got married in 2012 and they have two children. Al-Amin was allegedly staying away from home for the last two years and not providing the family necessary maintenance per month under Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act, 2010.
