ATM Sayeeduzzaman of Kaler Kantho and Anisur Rahman of Daily Star were elected as president and general secretary respectively of the Bangladesh Sports Journalist Association elections Friday.
Held at BSJA office at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Sayeeduzzaman-led panel had a landslide victory over the opposition panel with victories coming for nine out of 10 candidates.
Out of 83 votes cast in the election, Sayeeduzzaman secured 43 votes against the 40 of Arifur Rahman Babu of JagoNews.
The newly elected general secretary of the association Anisur bagged 54 votes.
Barshon Kabir of NTV, Rayhan Al Mugni of Global News and Saydur Rahman Shamim of Channel i were elected as the three vice-presidents, while SM Sumon of Baishakhi TV got elected as the joint secretary.
Mazhar Uddin Omi of Daily Star emerged as the new treasurer of the organization.
Minhaz Uddin Khan of Dhaka Tribune, Samina Roshni (former journalist), Samiul Titu of T Sports, Manzur Morshed of Jamuna TV, Jotirmoy Mondal of Jugantor and Robiul Islam of Bangla Tribune were elected as the six executive members.
