Leaving his many fans, peers and family to sheer grief, Zeheen Ahmed, the guitarist of metal band Mechanix, committed suicide on Saturday.
Followed by the shocking news of the talented guitarist’s death, many musicians and bands have expressed their grief, after the untimely departure of Zeheen Ahmed.
Zohad Reza Chowdhury, band-mate of Zeheen during his time at Nemesis, has responded by saying “We lost a gem. Devastated. Worst news.”
Aftabuzzaman Tridib, the front man and vocalist of Mechanix, posted on Facebook, “I lost my self. I lost everything. Zeheen Ahmed, the part of my heart, has left us. Please pray for his soul.”
Prominent singer, songwriter and a fellow guitar player, Bappa Mazumder posted “I’m shocked I’m speechless I just cannot believe this Zeheen... why???”
Jon Kabir, the singer of Indalo, wrote, “This is shockingly sad and unacceptable. My condolences to the family.”
The progressive metal band Cryptic Fate posted on Facebook, “Cornell, Bennington and now our own Zeheen Ahmed. Depression is a real problem, especially as you can’t tell just by talking to someone. And it’s not easy to solve. Be good to your friends and family people, spend some quality time. That’s all we can do. Hope you found your peace Zeheen. See you in the Great Gig in the Sky.”
Zeheen Ahmed, the oldest son of Manam Ahmed – a member of the iconic rock band Miles, joined the metal band Mechanix in 2008. He also contributed in defining the sound of the band’s début album Oporajeyo, relased in 2011. From 2009 till date, the band has participated in numerous mixed albums, in which Zeheen has contributed a lot.
Zeheen briefly worked with the alternative rock band Nemesis, followed by the departure of Maher Khan and Omayr Khan from the band in 2012.
The 27-year old guitarist last performed in a tribute show to Chris Cornell organised by Indalo, held at the Russian Cultural Center, Dhanmondi, just a day before his death.
