Tani Laila, daughter of veteran singer Runa Laila, has urged fans to report social media accounts spreading false claims about her mother's health, after posts alleging the singer was "battling for her life" began circulating online alongside AI-generated videos and images.
Tani, currently in the United States with her family, confirmed in a social media post that her mother is alive and in good health. She also criticized the spread of misleading content created using artificial intelligence.
Tani wrote: "I am truly annoyed and fed up seeing these posts, AI-generated YouTube videos and fake news being spread just to make a small amount of money. I will personally start reporting these types of content, one by one, until these idiots stop this nonsense."
Reflecting on her mother's 6-decade musical career, Tani criticized those who continue to disrespect the veteran singer.
She wrote: "My mother has devoted 6 decades of her life to serving music. Yet people continue to disrespect her in this way even now — what an utter shame and humiliation this is for us."
Tani said the claims about Runa Laila's health are false.
"My mother is completely healthy and alive; no one has died, nor is she on the verge of death. These are all videos and images created using AI," she said.
Tani urged Runa Laila's followers to report the accounts spreading the content. "It is no longer tolerable. Those who follow Runa Laila, please report such accounts," she said.
Runa Laila performed at two concerts in Australia last month. She also performed at a solo musical event organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
