Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Peddi has opened to a strong response at the worldwide box office, powered by positive premiere talk and a wide theatrical release.

The Buchi Babu Sana directorial grossed Rs 112.49 crore worldwide on day 1, according to Sacnilk, marking the biggest opening of Ram Charan’s career. Of that, Rs 82.49 crore came from India, with the film’s net domestic collection at Rs 69.50 crore. Domestic markets accounted for 73% of the total business.

The film had already signaled strong momentum after earning more than $1.5 million in North America from premiere screenings alone. It went on to collect Rs 30 crore overseas on opening day.

Peddi has become one of the biggest Telugu openers and the 11th film to cross the Rs 100 crore worldwide milestone on day 1. The numbers also point to a rebound for Charan after the box-office disappointment of Game Changer and Acharya.

The Hindi-dubbed version collected around Rs 3 crore net in North India on its first day. In the Telugu states, the film opened to Rs 51 crore net, while occupancy for the Hindi version stood at around 14%.

In other key markets, Karnataka contributed Rs 0.25 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 0.45 crore and Malayalam Rs 0.10 crore on day 1.
