Duronto TV is turning May 1 into a vibrant tapestry of festivity, blending the spiritual serenity of Buddha Purnima with the spirited pulse of International Workers’ Day through a slate of colourful, family-friendly programming.
Leading the lineup is the much-anticipated “Hoi Hoi Halla – Season 2”, where celebration meets mystery.
Set within an apartment complex, the story unfolds around retired doctor Safdar Chowdhury and a lively group of children eager to create YouTube content around Buddha Purnima.
What begins as playful curiosity quickly transforms into an exhilarating treasure hunt when Safdar’s enigmatic grandfather throws down a challenge -- decoding riddles that unravel not just clues, but profound chapters from the life of Gautam Buddha.
As laughter and learning intertwine, the eventual discovery of the treasure sparks yet another layer of intrigue.
Featuring performances by Afra, Sayan, Riddhi, Turrya, Ri Juni, Kawsar, alongside veteran actors Abul Hayat and Shahnaz Khushi, the drama is directed by Partha Pratim Halder.
It airs on Friday at 2pm and 5pm.
Adding a homely, heartwarming touch to the celebrations is “Banai Mojar Khabar Ma-Baba Aar Ami”, a special Buddha Purnima episode that blends culinary delight with cultural storytelling.
Hosted by culinary artist Afifa Akhtar Lita and directed by Amina Nowshin Raisa, the show invites a child guest and their mother into an intimate kitchen setting, where festive dishes come alive alongside songs and stories inspired by the occasion. The program will air at 6:30pm.
Earlier in the day, viewers can soak in the spiritual glow of Buddha Purnima through the dance special “Alo Amar Alo”, scheduled for 9am.
Meanwhile, the rhythm shifts gears in the afternoon with Duronto TV’s special dance program “Nongor Tolo Tolo” marking Great May Day.
Dancers from Nandankala Kendra -- including Puspita, Arpita, Imi, Pew, Ira, Arjan, Mahmuda, Shrestha, Labiba, Silva, Sadia, Sijan, Sifat, Samyadwip, Rimi, Sinthi and Tandra -- performed expressive choreography along with the national anthem under the direction of MR Wasek.
The program is directed by Partha Pratim Haldar and will be aired at 3:30 PM.
