Leaving his million aficionados to a sheer outcry, Chester Bennington, the front-man of the alternative rock band Linkin Park, has committed suicide on July 20. Many have taken it to various social media outlets upon the diffusion of the news. Tributes are still pouring in on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by many widely famous bands, musicians and actors, who are expressing their grief, gratitude and love for the untimely demise of the singer and songwriter.
Bandmate Mike Shinoda confirmed the news in his somber tweet: “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true.”
Late night host Jimmy Kimmel wrote, “Chester was one of the kindest men I’ve had on my show,” adding that his heart breaks for Bennington’s family and friends.
The Glitch Mob said they were “having a moment of silence” for Bennington, and Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue said he was “in tears” over the loss of “such a sweet and talented man.”
Paul Stanley pleaded with those who need help to reach out. He wrote, “We can never know someone’s pain.”
Others were simply devastated. OneRepublic tweeted in all caps, saying “This breaks our heart.” “Oh dear God! Massive RIP to Chester Bennington of Linkinpark, this breaks our heart. Suicide is the devil on earth walking amongst us.”
Imagine Dragons said they were “so heartbroken” and had “no words.”
Dwayne Johnson, the Rock, sent his “love, strength and light” to Bennington’s family and band mates. “So sorry to hear the news about Chester Bennington. Sending so much love, strength and light to his family, kids and Linkin Park,” he tweeted.
