After winning the Favourite Alternative Rock Artist title at the 2017 American Music Awards (AMA) and dedicating it to their late frontman Chester Bennington on Sunday night, the members of Linkin Park were kicked out of the event.
According to Metal Injection, moment after co-founder Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon and Brad Delson accepted the award on stage and walked backstage, they were stopped from entering the main award show venue, despite holding the award in their hand.

The issue seemed to be rooted in a mix-up of credentials, and having the wrong AMA tickets and passes, added to the fact that to the security personnel were seemingly unaware of who they were.
The entire debacle was documented by Shinoda via his Instagram Story, which was laid out in an entertaining AMAs subplot. The stories were later taken by RockFeed.net, a hard rock community-based website, who published a compilation video of the incident.

While Shinoda and his band mates took the incident lightly and in a friendly manner, die-hard Linkin Park fans took notice and were infuriated.
Following the death of their frontman Chester Bennington in late July, Linkin Park has had a rough year. After going through such loss, the band received some good news at the annual AMAs by winning the title, beating Imagine Dragons and Twenty-One Pilots.
The band got on stage and gave a touching acceptance speech in memory of their late vocalist.
In late October, Linkin Park held a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Bennington’s memory.
The band launched the Give to the One More Light Fund to support Bennington’s favourite Music for Relief programme called Solar Suitcases, as well as individuals and families coping with mental and emotional struggles.
