Update : 06 Nov 2024, 12:02 AM

Renowned independent theater collective Spardha has unveiled their newest theater production “Still I Rise”. The play is directed by Mohsina Akhter.

This was announced on their Facebook page along with the caption, “Let another light hit the city this Thursday night. Everyone wake up in that light. Everyone is invited to watch ‘Still I Rise’ produced by Spardha.”

Spardha has previously worked on productions such as Neelima Ibrahim's “Ami Birangana Bolchi”, which documents the tale of the oppression and exploitation of Bangladeshi women as an instrument of war at the whim of the Pakistani army and their local allies during the liberation war.

They have also produced “Jibon O Rajnoitik Bastobota” which was directed by Syed Jamil Ahmed. It tells the story of a family during the liberation war, where Majid’s sister Momena is martyred during a protest and years after he comes face to face with her killer.

Spardha also staged the acclaimed theatrical production titled “Montrash”, which is a translation Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis. It deals with sensitive topics such as rape, sexual assault, murder, torture unto death, religious intolerance and chaotic uncertainty in society.

“Still I Rise” will be premiered on November 7 at 7th Floor, Mir Taj Square (beside Drik Bhavan) Panthapath, Dhaka.

The first show will be at 8 pm and second show at 10 pm. The ticket prices are as follows - Tk. 500 (Chair Seating), Tk. 300 (Floor Seating) and Tk. 200* (Standing) (Limited seats) for the students. Their contact information is present on their Facebook page.
