A short film titled “Room Number 2011” is being produced and is set to released on the death anniversary of Abrar Fahad, a sophomore at the country’s most prestigious engineering university, BUET, who was brutally murdered on October 7, 2019. The film will tell his story.

On September 17, the poster of the film was posted on Jisu Entertainment’s Facebook page. The idea was pitched by Jahangirnagar University student Sheikh Jisan Ahamed, who is the current CEO of Jisu Entertainment. Almost 100 students have acted in the film.

Along with the film’s poster on Facebook the caption reads, “It's coming... 'Room Number 2011'. Our first original work based on the true event. It will be released simultaneously in Bangladesh and the United States. Gratitude to ‘Aktiful’ (a social enterprise organised by some Bangladeshi-American expatriates."

There is no mention of Abrar in the poster but when Ahamed was asked he confirmed that the film is based on his story. He also confirmed that the film will is 25 minutes long and will be released on social media such as Youtube and Facebook.

Abrar's classmates suggested that his death might have been related to his Facebook posts. In a status update, Abrar criticized the signing of bilateral agreements with India during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s four-day official visit. There were allegations against Chhatra League leaders and activists of beating him to death. This outraged students, leading the university banning all student politics.
