The body of Shafin Ahmed, one of Bangladesh's most popular and iconic band artists and the former frontman of Miles, has been brought back to the country four days after his death.
The plane carrying his body landed at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from the United States at 5:30pm on Monday.
Ershadul Haque Tinku, an associate of the Miles artist, confirmed the information.
Tinku said Shafin Ahmed's coffin was taken out of the airport shortly after 6pm and brought to the artist's residence in Uttara. It will then be moved to a hospital freezer.
He added: "Shafin Ahmed's family members have already informed everyone about the schedule and place of burial and prayer. As a result, they are not expecting any crowd of fans or media around Shafin Ahmed's body before that. This time they want to be by themselves."
Earlier, Shafin Ahmed's elder brother Hamin Ahmed said the funeral will be held after Zuhr prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque on Tuesday, followed by burial at Banani Cemetery, where their father, music guru Kamal Dasgupta, and mother, legendary Nazrul artist Firoza Begum, are laid to rest.
The family also confirmed that his qulkhwani (a ritual for deceased Muslims) will be held at Gulshan Community Mosque next to Banani Graveyard after Jummah prayers on Friday to seek forgiveness for Shafin Ahmed's soul.
The popular rock bassist, singer-songwriter and record producer breathed his last while on life support in a hospital in Virginia, United States, due to heart and kidney failure.
