The folk and funk rock track, “Pagol,” is written and composed by Farshid Alam. It was first arranged as an electro pop. The song features groovy bass lines of Farshid, electrifying guitars by Ahnaf Khan Anik, crunchy acoustic rhythm guitar by Labik Kamal Gaurob, and funky drums by Adnan Khondoker Rushdi.
The lyrics embody elements of Bangla Baul philosophy, which revolves around a search for the “pagol” within. Later in the rap segment by Labik, it is explained what the madness is really about and that, it’s a journey that one needs to go through to actually be a “pagol.”
Vocalist of the song, Farshid, said: “The song came from the idea that we as humans are free to seek out the truth from within and from the world around us, but today we are all trapped in a constructed reality where the truth is tainted.”
The LKG Quartet is headed by Labik, who is a singer, songwriter and a music producer. He has a degree in audio engineering from the UK and currently works as a composer for films, TV and online media from his production Studio LKG.
