Azmeri Haque Badhan to serve as Jury member at Bengaluru International Film Festival

Internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhan received the prestigious invitation to join the jury panel as a Jury member at the 15th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes), organized by the Karnataka Film Academy.

The festival, scheduled to commence on February 29 in Bengaluru, Karnataka's capital, will run until March 7, offering a platform for filmmakers from around the world to showcase their works. For Badhan, this invitation signifies both honour and responsibility, as she steps into the role of judging the finest cinematic creations alongside esteemed colleagues from across the globe.

Expressing her gratitude and excitement, Badhan remarked: "It's a great honour for me. I'm a little surprised, but I'm very honoured. I have travelled to festivals in different countries with my work 'Rehana', 'Khufiya'. Being a jury member is another experience that will enrich me.” 

Having garnered acclaim on international platforms from Cannes to Kerala, Badhan brings a wealth of experience and passion for cinema to her role as a jury member. She acknowledges the unique allure of film festivals, where diverse cultures converge, and artistic expressions intertwine.

The Bengaluru International Film Festival will showcase over 200 films from more than 50 countries across 15 sections. Badhan, along with fellow jury members, including Nina Kochleiva of Russia, Rosanna Alonso of Spain, Carrie Shane of Britain, and Sitaram of India, will undertake the task of selecting the best works from the competition section.

In addition to the Asian Cinema Competition section, the festival features dedicated segments for Indian and Kannada films, offering a comprehensive showcase of cinematic diversity. Notably, international organizations such as FIPRESCI and NETPAC will also be in attendance, further enhancing the festival's global significance. In 2023, Bangladeshi film critic/screenwriter Sadia Khalid Reeti joined the jury board of BIFFes.

Azmeri Haque Badhan's appointment as a jury member underscores her esteemed position in the world of cinema and reinforces Bangladesh's presence on the international stage. With her discerning eye and profound appreciation for cinematic excellence, Badhan is poised to contribute meaningfully to the celebration of cinematic artistry at the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
