The long-awaited moment has finally arrived. The nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards have been officially announced by the Recording Academy. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 4.
The 2024 Grammy Awards will introduce three new categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.
These groundbreaking additions are part of a broader series of updates and changes, effective immediately for the 2024 Grammys, designed to enhance the fairness, transparency and accuracy of the Grammy Awards process, according to Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr expressed the intention behind these changes.
The Grammys voting process initiates with members and record companies submitting entries, which undergo scrutiny for eligibility and category assignment. The Online Entry Process (OEP) Access Period occurred between July 17 and August 31, 2023. First round voting took place from October 11 to October 20, 2023. Finally, the Final Round Voting is scheduled for December 14, 2023, to January 4, 2024, with the winners set to be revealed on Music's Biggest Night on February 4, 2024.
The singer and songwriter of "Kill Bill" has secured the highest number of nominations, totaling nine nods. Noteworthy nominees in a list that emphasizes the musical achievements of young women include Phoebe Bridgers, R&B sensation Victoria Monét, indie collective boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo. Taylor Swift made history with seven nominations in the Song of the Year category for "Anti-Hero," becoming the first person to achieve this feat. She also tied with Barbra Streisand for the most all-time nominations by a female artist, thanks to her Album of the Year nod for "Midnights."
Overall, Swift earned six nominations.
