‘Aam-Kathaler Chutti’ hits theatres in the capital

The full-length children's film “Aam-Kathaler Chutti” (Mango-Jackfruit Holidays) hit theatres August 18.

The film has been screened and awarded at various international film festivals. The inaugural screening of the movie nationally was held at Shilpakala Academy's Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium on August 6. 

The movie is based on the short stories of Sharif Uddin Sabuj. The director, Mohammad Nuruzzaman has expressed that the people who have passed their childhood in the seventies and mid-nineties will have a nostalgic experience through the film. 

The story of “Aam-Kathaler Chutti” follows an eight-year-old city boy as he discovers a new world and friendships when he visits the village on a summer vacation. 

The film won the Special Jury Award at the 16th edition of the Cheboksary International Film Festival in Russia. “Aam-Kathaler Chutti” had its international screening at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival at Jakarta, Indonesia in December last year. 

The movie will be shown at Star Cineplex (Bashundhara City Shopping Complex), Blockbuster Cinemas (Jamuna Future Park), Lion Cinemas (Keraniganj), Silver Screen (Chittagong) and Cinescope (Narayanganj) in the first week. Other theatres will be added to this list during the second week. The commercial exhibition of the movie outside the country will start at the end of this month.

The movie produced by Cinemakar, has a seven year long story behind this film. The cinematography of the film was done by the filmmaker himself, accompanied by Mac Sabbir, shot on locations spread over twenty-five to thirty kilometres. 

Apart from producing, directing, writing the screenplay, Mohammad Nuruzzaman is also responsible for the sound design. Leon, Zubair, Arif, Halima, Tanzil, Fatema, Kamruzzaman Kamrul, Abdul Hamid, among others played roles in the movie.
