The entertainment industry of Bangladesh is witnessing a dramatic transformation as a new stir has been generated in this industry recently with the arrival of OTT (Over-the-Top) platforms.
Along with this, dramas, movies and web series are being produced in all kinds of stories in Bangladesh that go beyond the traditional form of entertainment.
And in this case, there is no denying that the OTT platform is a little more ahead than all other media.
This platform has produced some excellent web series in the last two to three years, which have been widely appreciated.
Now another name is undoubtedly going to be added to that list, and that name is "Virus".
The mystery thriller web series "Virus" has left audiences in amazement after its release on August 10, in Chorki.
The story and screenplay of the series is written by Anam Biswas and Ashraful Alam Shaon.
Anam Biswas’s two other popular works are “Devi” and “Dui Diner Duniya’.
So the audience's interest in the virus was a little high. Before the release of Virus, Anam Biswas said: “In the series, he wanted to tell a story for the people of this digital age; which makes them think a little. As a matter of fact, “Virus” has really created a new place of thinking in the mind of the audience.”
In the series, the director has highlighted the current situation of the society by mingling reality and fantasy. Where people are becoming self-centred day by day, no one says anything despite seeing injustice in front of their eyes.
The talented filmmaker has portrayed an absolute reality of slowly drowning in the addiction of adultery along with following trends.
The series has five episodes namely "Vejal", "Amar Ki?", "Hah Ha Tak Tak", "Lie Ke Lai", "V Virus".
The linking of each episode with another episode will not let the audience go out of the story for a moment.
The story begins with Afzal suffering from a strange virus. Boatman Niranjan meets Afzal who is looking for Kaviraj to get rid of the virus. Afzal tells the story of a strange village named Patalia to Niranjan while explaining the reason for the virus. Children, old people, women and men of that village are all addicted to formalin. And their addiction is so obvious that to get a taste of formalin, they commit a terrible accident. A social media influencer Mr Green came to the scene to hide the incident.
A brutal reality of capitalizing on people's beliefs and establishing lies emerges there.
At one point, Niranjan also tells the stories that happened in his life.
Niranjan narrates the story of a neighbourhood where everyone, suffering from selfishness and self-centeredness, has become accustomed to an unwritten rule of not protesting injustice.
Afzal, Niranjan and the people of their villages are punished for not protesting the injustice.
But how Niranjan was freed from that terrible curse, he brought up the story of a girl child with miraculous powers. After hearing everything, Afzal also wants to correct himself, that's why he kidnapped Mr Green. All in all, tension in every episode.
The aesthetic presentation along with the impeccable story will create a space in the mind of the audience that the virus infects not only the human body but also the mind.
"Virus" is also an ominous story of the disappearance of consideration and common sense. Anam-Shaon duo will get 10 out of 10 for story and screenplay.
The relevant location of the story will also impress the audience. Also, the real presentation of each character is a great achievement of the series.
Big screen star Shamol Mawla has already proved himself as a versatile actor. He has once again shown that he is a "method-actor" in the role of Afzal.
Tariq Anam Khan has also shown why he ranks among the country's best actors of all time through his portrayal of Niranjan.
Golam Farida Chanda, Iqbal Hossain, Rezwan Parvez, Tanmoy Ghosh, Meghla Tapur, all of them have played their characters very well.
But in addition to the well-known actors in the series, every artist who played the role of Patalia villagers has made the audience's attention to a great extent. They have shown that they can show off their skills brilliantly without dialogues and too much screen time. In a short period of time, the expression that arouses everyone's tingles in a crowd of people will make anyone impressed.
As far as is known, a large part of these characters are students of Dhaka University's drama department.
Anam Biswas, Ashraful Alam Shaon, series producer Redwan Rony and the entire Chorki team have left the audience in awe by presenting a story that is absolutely heartwarming.
