ZEE5 closes business in Bangladesh

The company through an email informed that the contents on the platform can no longer be seen in Bangladesh from January 15

Update : 05 Jan 2023, 07:36 PM

Indian OTT platform “ZEE5” stepped into Bangladeshi border three and a half years ago with an aim to spread Bangladeshi content globally. Quite a few contents have been created by the platform. The expectation was to coordinate and exchange creative works between two countries. However, ZEE5 could not deliver up to the expectation level.

For this reason, ZEE5 will close business from Bangladesh. The company through an email informed that the contents on the platform can no longer be seen in Bangladesh from January 15. ZEE5 will refund those users who have purchased advanced subscription.

ZEE5's mail reads: “We regret to inform you that ZEE5's streaming services will no longer be available in Bangladesh. It's been a pleasure entertaining you with our stories.”

“Good Company,” subsidiary of Asiatic 3Sixty, used to create and manage ZEE5's contents in Bangladesh. Iresh Zaker, Managing Director of the organization said: “It was their business decision. We were only producing contents. Perhaps for some reasons they felt that the platform will not work in Bangladeshi market and they decided to close.”

ZEE5 started operations in Bangladesh in 2019, with a launching event at a five-star hotel in Dhaka. Then the platform has presented contents like, “Mainkar Chipay,” “Contract,” “Ladies and Gentleman,” among others.
