‘Sisimpur’ to run for another 5 years on BTV

Sisimpur is the Bangladeshi version of the world-famous television program Sesame Street

The popular children’s series “Sisimpur” is going to be broadcasted on Bangladesh Television (BTV) for another five years. 

Regarding this, a tripartite broadcasting agreement was signed between Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, BTV and Sesame Workshop Bangladesh, said a press release on Monday.

Md Shariful Islam Sharif, director general of Shishu Academy, Md Sohrab Hossain, director general of BTV and Mohammad Shah Alam, the country managing director of Sesame Workshop Bangladesh were present to sign the agreement. 

This agreement will result BTV to air the popular children’s puppet show daily for the next five years. 

Ministry of Women and Child Affairs will bear the cost of broadcasting the program on BTV, said the press release. 

Sisimpur is the Bangladeshi version of the world-famous television program “Sesame Street.” 

The show has been airing since 2005 with the aim of making education accessible and enjoyable for Bangladeshi students. 

This has become quite popular among the kids. The show also won the  14th International Kidscreen Awards for "Best Mixed Media Series" in 2022.

With the financial assistance of USAID, Bangladesh, the program is being produced by Sesame Workshop Bangladesh.
