Johnny Depp not returning to 'Pirates of the Caribbean' anytime soon

During the defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, Depp had said he had no interest in returning to the franchise

Johnny Depp representatives have cleared that the actor will not be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow anytime soon as rumors surfaced that he is working on a deal with Disney to return to the movie franchise.

On June 27, a report claimed that the actor was working on a $301 million deal to return to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie franchise, reports E.online.

However, a representative for the actor told NBC News: "This is made up."

Recently after four years after the actor parted ways with Disney, a source close to Depp told PopTopic: "Disney is very interested in patching up their relationship with Johnny Depp. They are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character."

Back in May, when the actor was in the midst of a defamation suit with ex-wife Amber Heard, Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer was asked if Depp would be back for future projects.

"Not at this point," he had told The Sunday Times, adding: “The future is yet to be decided."

Meanwhile, Depp had also said during the trial that he had no interest in returning to the franchise.

During the court proceedings, Heard's attorney Ben Rottenborn had asked the actor: "The fact is, Mr Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?"

Depp had replied, "That is true, Mr Rottenborn."

Johnny Depp played Captain Jack Sparrow in all five movies, the latest one being the 2017 film "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

He is now set to join his Hollywood Vampires bandmates—Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Tommy Henriksen—for an overseas tour next year, according to E.online.
