Three films have opened in halls across the country on Eid-ul-Azha and remained a popular topic of conversation for netizens and film enthusiasts.
Ananta Jalil’s “Din: The Day,” Raihan Rafi’s social drama “Poran” and Anonno Mamun’s “Psycho” were released on July 10, 2022. Audiences were seen cautiously returning to the halls after a long pandemic-induced break.
Theatre owners have been particularly vocal about the success of “Poran,” which was only released in eleven halls. According to the media reports, the film will soon open in more theatres in light of its impressive ticket sales.
“Poramon 2” famed director Raihan Rafi’s Eid feature “Poran” is reportedly inspired by the Borguna’s Rifat murder case, in which his widow Ayesha Siddika Minni and five others were sentenced to death.
The film stars Bidya Sinha Mim, Yash Rohan and Sariful Razz in lead roles, who have already drawn praise for their performance from netizens.

Based on a screenplay penned by Shahjahan Shourov and Raihan Rafi, “Poran” was shot by cinematographer Michil Saha and produced by Md Tamjid Atul.
The cast also includes Yash Rohan, Shilpi Sarker Apu, Bidya Sinha Mim, Sariful Razz, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Rosey Siddiqui, Lutfur Rahman George and Mili Bashar in key roles
Lead actor Razz posted a photo with his wife Pori Moni on Facebook and wrote, "I promised you that I would watch 'Poran' with you this week. But I can't even get a ticket for myself!"

Ananta Jalil’s “Din: The Day” has been closely matching the box office success of “Poran;” however the reviews have been mostly mixed and the hype swiftly dwindling. The film was reportedly made on a 100-crore budget and released in 115 cinema halls.
Directed by Iranian film-maker Murtaza Otash Jamjam and shot in different locations of Iran, Bangladesh, Lebanon, and Syria, the film stars Ananta himself and wife, Afiea Nusrat Barsha, newcomer Sumon Faruk, and many other actors from Lebanon and Iran.
Ananta, who has been on a hiatus from acting since his 2014 hit “Most Welcome 2,” was expected to bring audiences back to the vacant halls, which bore the brunt of the pandemic.
He told the press that audiences formed long queues to watch his film and were often frustrated with tickets having run out.
“We have to save our film industry first. I would request everyone to buy tickets for all the three Eid films. I have no enemy in the film industry. It would give me great pleasure if all our films do well at the box office,” Ananta Jalil told the press.
On the other hand, director Anonno Mamun’s “Psycho” stars Ziaul Roshan, Pujja Cherry, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Rosey Siddiqui, Subrota, Farhan Khan Rio, Sanchita Datta, John Jahid, NK Masuk, LR Khan Shimanto, Jakir Hossain, Nusrat Jahan, Sharmin Mojumdar, MN Tanveer, Nusrat Nipa, Abdur Razzaque, Ahad, Amit, Sharmin Imuand in key roles.
The screenplay was penned by Anonno Mamun and Pappu Raz.
