The 29th SXSW Film Festival unveiled the list of this year's jury and special award winners on Tuesday, March 15, at Austin, Texas.

James Morosini's "I Love My Dad," starring Patton Oswalt, bagged the top jury prize. The film tells the story of an estranged father catfishing his son.

Bangladeshi director Nuhash Humayun's horror-short film "Moshari" was named the winner of the Midnight Shorts section.

"Moshari" follows two sisters, played by "No Dorai" actor Sunerah Binte Kamal and Nuhash Humayun’s niece Nairah Onora Saif in her debut role, trying to survive the end of the world.

"Moshari is a traditional South Asian mosquito net, made for protection against vermin at night.  When the world is overrun with bloodthirsty creatures, the last of mankind persevere in Dhaka, Bangladesh by spending their nights inside the moshari - the only known shelter from the unknown threat. Two sisters, Apu and Ayra, must navigate this strange new world to survive. However, their strained relationship is becoming as much of a threat as the dangers outside. One night, when Ayra’s curiosity lures her outside the safety of the moshari, Apu must rise to the occasion - as they face their demons, together,” reads the official synopsis.

In an interview with Fangoria, Nuhash said that his childhood served as an inspiration for his short film, “My parents separated when I was a kid, and my mom was always so busy because she was at university, so it was sort of like my sisters who raised me. That sisterly relationship, I thought there was something interesting there—just exploring ‘What happens when your sister becomes your mother because your parents are too busy or not there?’”

Written and directed by Nuhash Humayun, the 21-minute short film premiered at SXSW on March 13, 2022.
