The governments of Bangladesh and India are jointly producing a feature film based on the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvoo is playing Bangabandhu.
Shuvoo’s best-known films include “Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini,” “Bhalobasha Zindabad,” “Chuye Dile Mon,” “Dhaka Attack” and others.
According to media reports, the actor is being paid a remuneration of only 1 taka for his performance in the Bangabandhu biopic. The news drew positive reaction from the netizens who applauded the actor’s dedication.
Shuvoo expressed enthusiasm that the role of Bangabandhu is being portrayed by a Bangladeshi actor, and by none other than him. He remarked that it was one of the greatest achievements of his career.
“Working with director Shyam Benegal is also a big deal for me. These achievements cannot be measured by money.”
He also talked about the numerous sacrifices Bangabandhu made for the sake of his countrymen. The actor thought that it would be fitting to take a nominal salary for playing a legendary political figure like Bangabandhu.
