‘Mujib - The Making of a Nation’: First poster revealed on Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary

Veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal, hailed as one of the pioneers of Indian parallel cinema, is helming the much-anticipated Bangabandhu biopic

Poster for the much-anticipated Bangabandhu biopic, directed by prominent Indian filmmaker Shaym Benegal, was unveiled today, on the 102nd birth anniversary of the Father of Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Titled “Mujib - The Making of a Nation,” the biopic is based on a script by Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi, and is a co-production between the governments of India and Bangladesh.

The main cast includes Arifin Shuvoo in the titular role, Nusrat Imrose Tisha as Rahman’s wife Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, and Nusraat Faria as their daughter Sheikh Hasina.

According to UNB, veteran actor Dilara Jaman will play the role of Bangbandhu's mother Sahera Khatun, actor Khairul Alam Sabuj will portray as Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutfor Rahman, Shahidul Alam Sachchu as Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, Ferdous Ahmed as Tajuddin Ahmed, Tauquir Ahmed as Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Tushar Khan as Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah, Fazlur Rahman Babu as Khandakar Moshtaq Ahmed and Misha Sawdagor as Aiyub Khan, among others.

Piya Benegal and Nitish Roy are in charge of costume design and art direction of the film, respectively.

Director and cinematographer Mohammad Hossain Jaimy is the line producer of the Bangladeshi unit and renowned director Giasuddin Selim is working as the dialogue coach.

Veteran filmmaker Shyam Bengal, hailed as one of the pioneers of Indian parallel cinema, is the recipient of the coveted Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Earlier in his career, he has made critically acclaimed biographical films on prominent political and cultural figures such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Satyajit Ray and Subhas Chandra Bose.
