Robert Pattinson will make his highly-anticipated debut as Bruce Wayne in 2022. It is very likely that he will return to the iconic role beyond the first movie and experts are speculating who his Joker will be.
Catwoman, Penguin and the Ridder, all three are going to be featured in the upcoming film and at least one of them is bound to return for more. But sooner or later, the makers will have to look for a worthy Joker to terrorize Pattinson’s Batman.
It appears that the actor most likely to bag this role has already filled Pattinson with terror in one of 2019’s most acclaimed films, The Lighthouse. Four-time Oscar nominee, William Dafoe has been considered by DC fans the ideal Joker for decades now, on account of his distinct looks and acting prowess, not to mention his admirable ability to cower Pattinson in a remote island.
William Dafoe in The Lighthouse Collected
Dafoe has admitted in the past that he was briefly considered for the role in Tim Burton's Batman - a role that ultimately Jack Nicholson earned. At the outset of every Batman installation, however, Dafoe’s name has been consistently suggested by ardent fans.
In 2019, Pattinson and Dafoe played an odd couple of light-keepers, who get on each other’s nerves and have strange visions during alcohol-induced delirium.
