Ariq's 'Transit' in Oscar-qualifying film festival

The film was part of the main competition at the world renowned Busan International Film Festival in October

Ariq Anam Khan's short film, Transit, will be screening at the two international film festivals in 2021. The European premiere will take place at the highly prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France and the Bangladesh Premiere at Dhaka International Film Festival. 

Previously, the film was part of the main competition at the world renowned Busan International Film Festival in October and Encounters Film Festival in the UK.

The highly acclaimed Clermont-Ferrand Festival is one of the biggest short film festivals and film markets in the world. It is also regarded as the biggest and most prestigious film festival in France after Cannes, and is also an Oscar qualifying festival.

From nearly 7000 submissions this year, only 78 films were selected to be part of the main competition of the festival where Transit will be screened. The 42nd edition of the festival will take place from January 31 –February 7, 2021.

In addition, the Bangladesh premiere of Transit will also take place in January at the 19th Dhaka International Film Festival. For the first time, audiences in Bangladesh will be able to watch the film between the January 16-24, 2021.

Jahangir Alam has played the main role in the film. Other key cast members are Sharmeen Akhee, Baidya Nath Saha, Khairul Alam Tipu, Sharif Hossain Emon and others. Other crew include ET Ng as the cinematographer, Sameer Ahmed as the Editor, and Arafat Mohsin as the composer.

Due to the current global pandemic of Covid-19, both festivals will be taking place in a slightly limited scale.
