On December 1, in a heartfelt Instagram post, Elliot Page, the star of Juno, Inception, Umbrella Academy among others, came out as transgender.
"I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life," he wrote. "I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self."
Elliot, who had previously come out as homosexual in 2014, said that he would use “he/they” pronouns. Page was nominated for an Oscar for playing a pregnant teenager in 2007 coming-of-age film Juno. He currently stars in superhero series Umbrella Academy.
Since his announcement, celebrities have flooded Twitter to voice their support for Elliot and appreciate his courage to live his truth.
