Tisha to play revolutionary Pritilata on the big screen

Tisha starrer 'Bhalobasha Pritilata' is one of the 16 feature films that have received government grants this fiscal year

88 years ago today, Pritilata Waddedar led a group of fifteen revolutionaries in an unforgettable armed attack against the oppressive British rule. The mahurat of a government-funded film titled Bhalobasha Pritilata was held today to mark her death anniversary, at the auditorium of the Department of Film and Publications.

Pritilata, who swallowed cyanide to evade arrest, is recognized as the first woman martyr in the fight against British regime. After her death, the police found ‘a few leaflets, photograph of Ramkrishna Biswas, bullets, whistle and the draft of her plan of attack.’

The new film, revolving around Pritilata’s life, career, and struggle for freedom from British oppression, would be based on author Selina Hossain’s novel of the same name. 

Directed and co-produced by Pradip Ghosh, Nusrat Imrose Tisha would play the valiant revolutionary Pritilata, opposite Manoj Kumar. Bappa Mazumder would compose the film’s music.

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University Professor Dr Shireen Akhter, and author Selina Hossain attended the film’s mahurat today at 12pm.

Bhalobasha Pritilata would also highlight the immense contribution of Surjya Sen, and other revolutionaries from Chittagong to the Indian Independence Movement. 

Bangla Tribune Reported, director Ghosh would begin filming from the first week of October.
