A common, long-lasting mental disease, known as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), can lead to intrusive, unwanted, recurrent thoughts taking over one’s life, making him or her unable to deal with day to day life in a healthy manner.

Patients may display symptoms of obsessions, compulsions, or both.

Fear of germs, excessive self-criticism, insistence on setting things in a symmetrical order, excessive hand-washing, tendency to repeatedly check if a door is locked or the stove is off are some of the most common symptoms of the disease that can cripple anybody's life if left untreated.

Bearing in mind how this form of anxiety disorder is rarely discussed in our society, Cinemawala, a video and motion picture production house, is releasing a new Bangladeshi drama titled OCD.

Produced by Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz and directed by KM Sohag Rana, the latest drama will revolve around a family whose members suffer from the disease.

The director said: “OCD is a very serious disease and can lead to one even committing suicide. Yet we hardly ever talk about it. To shed light on its prevalence, we are making this lighthearted drama and trying to send an important message in the guise of humour to our viewers.

The cast of OCD includes Shamim Hasan Sarkar, Sarika Sabah, Monira Mithu among others.
