The Call Me by Your Name actor is back to set our hearts on fire with Daphne du Maurier’s new Rebecca adaptation. He will play a handsome widower who might be guarding a few dark secrets.
English director Ben Wheatley is all set to adapt the classic novel. He admits, his job would certainly not be easy on account of inevitably being compared with Alfred Hitchcock's timeless Rebecca (1940)
Netflix dropped the first trailer for Wheatley's fresh take on the gothic classic, starring Lily James and Armie Hammer in lead roles.
After a whirlwind romance in Monte Carlo with handsome widower Maxim de Winter (Hammer), a newly married young woman (James) arrives at Manderley, her new husband’s imposing family estate on a windswept English coast.
Naive and inexperienced, she begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim’s first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley’s sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas).
The cast also includes Keeley Hawes, Ann Dowd, Sam Riley, Tom Goodman-Hill, Mark Lewis Jones, Bill Paterson among others.
Netflix will release Rebecca on October 21.
