Writer/director France's Lee's Ammonite was all set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 before the event was scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now the film is navigating the crowded fall festivals and is due to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Set in 1840s, the film is inspired by the life of British paleontologist Mary Anning (Kate Winslet), and centres on the romantic relationship between Anning and Charlotte Murchison (Saoirse Ronan).

Even though the theatrical release date is uncertain, the film's distributor, Neon (Parasite ) is keeping fans interested by dropping new images every now and then. Releasing the official poster on Monday, August 24, Neon announced the film will drop its trailer the following day.
