Actor Bidya Sinha Saha Mim was trolled by netizens after she posted a photo of a sacrificial animal, which she bought for her house staff members for Eid-ul-Azha, on Facebook.
The post, with a picture of her petting the sacrificial animal, which Mim put up at around 11:39pm on Friday, went viral immediately.
The actor, who is Hindu, was also praised by netizens for being thoughtful about her staff members, who came to her defence.
Her post read: “Sacrificing is joy, sacrificing is happiness. Happy Eid-ul-Azha to all. I hope at this time of global epidemic, everyone will safely celebrate Eid tomorrow [Saturday] in their respective places. I, too, will celebrate Eid on a small scale with all my family members. I will miss my younger sister. But next to me will be my mother, father and dear driver brother (chauffeur) and domestic help.
“It is a small arrangement for the dear staff members of the house. It is a real joy to be able to do something for them for the first time in my life. Humans are for each other. Eid Mubarak.”
Bangladesh, along with the rest of the world, is celebrating Eid-ul-Azha on a limited scale, with restrictions on large gatherings and Eid congregations to contain Covid-19 transmission.
