Our music is going global and when something like that happens, the negativity doesn’t last longHow are people reacting to your music?Samee: There have been both positive and negative reactions. There are listeners who appreciate the new kind of work we do, and then there are some who think it’s something too easy. There are artists like Tahsan bhai who appreciate us, while others don’t even count us as musicians.Andy: We have worked with artists in Sri Lanka and in Bollywood. Our music is going global and when something like that happens, the negativity doesn’t last long.You have collaborated with musicians in Bollywood; how was the experience like?Shafi: It was a great experience working for them as a Bangladeshi artists. They have a very big market for the genre. We have worked with Bollywood composer Amaal Malik, who sends his tracks for us to add our sounds to them. We made the song “Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main,” which was a single sung by Atif Aslam and composed by Amaal. Then we went on to work on “Buddhu Sa Maan” from the film Kapoor and Sons and “Saau Aasman” from the film Baar Baar Dekho. Recently, we have completed working on tracks from the film Golmaal 4 which is slated to release in September. We have also worked with another Bollywood composer, Arko Pravo Mukherjee.Tell us about your latest projects.Shafi: We have just released our new song with Tahsan, “Cholo Na Harai” and we have recently finished making a song called “Down for Your Love.” We also have a surprise in store for our listeners this Eid.Live performances or social media – what helps you connect better with the audience?Andy: There aren’t too many opportunities for live EDM performances here so it is usually the social media platforms that we use to connect with our listeners - people react to our work on social media and stay connected through our page.Your inspiration?Samee: A lot of artists. I’d like to mention Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, David Guetta, Linkin Park and our very own Fuad Almuqtadir.You’ve worked with Bollywood musicians, and you have knowledge about their music, what aspect of their music attracts listeners from our country more than our own music does?Shafi: We need better presentation, advertisement and branding- for which we need bigger budgets.Any message for aspiring musicians?Samee: Learn more about music, find your signature sound and be authentic. They are making music from a genre that is increasingly becoming popular and making you dance to their beats, yet they choose not to seek your attention. They have been creating magic for quite some time and now they’re taking Bangladeshi music to international levels. They are Apeiruss - an EDM band from Bangladesh. In a fun chat with Showtime, the members of the band - Samee, Shafi and Andy, talk about their work, their dreams, goals and success.How would you explain the genre EDM to listeners?Samee: EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music and it has a lot of sub-genres. Every year, new styles are coming up. EDM is something new; it’s the sound of 2017. It’s not just dance music though, there is electronic music which you can listen to even when you’re trying to sleep.Shafi: EDM was always there, people have always been listening to it but they don’t know that it’s called EDM.When did you start making EDM? Tell us about the beginning of Apeiruss’ journey.Shafi: We started planning by the end of 2013 and established the band in 2014.Andy: Our first release was during the T20 World Cup in 2014.Samee: Our journey began during our college days when we decided not to play games on the computer but create something with it.Tell us about any difficulties that you hare faced?Samee: Firstly, EDM itself is a complicated genre. Then there are those who think you click something on your computer and music is made. It’s really not that easy. If you’re producing your own music, you need to know a lot of things.
