Watch: 125 artists sing for Covid-19 relief

This is the highest number of Bangladeshi artists to come together in one song during the lockdown so far

Update : 15 Apr 2020, 09:36 PM

Ever since the first coronavirus patient was identified in Bangladesh back in March, our musicians have been flocking in large numbers on various social media singing original or cover songs. We can't speak to the euphony of these songs, but the assembly of artists have been increasing in size like a fierce competition between TV channels, music labels and corporations.

On April 15, a song featuring 125 famous personalities was released on Gaanchill's YouTube channel. The song, Esho Shobai, is penned by singer Asif Iqbal and composed by Adit Rahman. The singers include Bappa Mazumder, Elita Karim, Kona, Sufi (Arbovirus), Dola Rahman, Oyshee, Labik Kamal Gaurob, Sayon Mansang, Bammy Rahman, and Adit Rahman. The song is a part of an initiative to raise funds for food, safety equipment and medicine for those fighting the Covid-19 criris.

Until today, Gaan Bangla held the honour of hosting the highest number of artists at a go. One hundred singers joined a Facebook live adda from their homes singing and talking. It was a part of the Music For Peace initiative that had started on the occasion of Independence Day and concluded on April 10.

Most of these songs featuring various artists were about coping with the coronavirus pandemic.
