Guru-shishya performances in Praner Khela

Update : 16 May 2017, 10:45 PM
Classical music is the base of any music. The ‘guru-shishya’ tradition or parampara, which denotes a succession of teachers and disciples in traditional Indian classical music, still exists in the country. Bengal Foundation believes that the young generation has to be motivated and involved in learning and practicing the Indian classical music to continue the legacy of this tardition. This tradition of thousand years may survive only if young musicians become interested to carry out Indian classical music. On this note, gurus and shishyas will perform in a Bengal Foundation’s regular music soiree titled  Praner Khela on May 18 at the Chhayanaut Auditorium at 7pm. Dr Asit Roy and his group Swaraj Pancham will perform group Dhrupad in the concert while Murtaza Kabir Murad and his group Aaroho will present group flute performance in the second session of the event.
