Joaquin Phoenix’s long awaited thriller Joker will be released in Bangladesh this Friday, the same day as the US release.
In Star Cineplex, the film will have eleven shows daily. In Shimanto Shombhar, the number of shows per day is five.
Joker is a gritty character study of Arthur Fleck, a man disregarded by society. The graphic novel Batman: The Killing Joker (1988) served as the basis for the film's premise.
Director Todd Phillips had previously directed mostly comedies like Road Trip, The Hangover Trilogy, and Due Date. However, Joker belongs to a completely different genre.
Phoenix’s powerful performance has already created widespread Oscar buzz. Robert De Niro plays one of the other major characters in the film- Murray Franklin, a talk show host who is partly responsible for Arthur's downfall.
The world premiere of the film took place on August 31 at the Venice Film Festival, where the acclaimed film won the Golden Lion.
