Meena Trust organized a classical music soiree titled Anondo Dhoni Jagao at capital’s Dhanmondi on Saturday evening. Renowned classical singers Amina Ahmed and Promod Dutta performed at the event.
Sadi Mohammad, a popular Bangladeshi Rabindra Sangeet singer, composer and director of the cultural organization, Rabiraag, moderated and played the harmonium at the event.
At the opening of the event, he said: “I love how this is a very casual event between our near and dear ones where we don’t have to formally introduce ourselves and can dive right away into the music of the two reputed classical singers that are lined up for the evening.”
President of Rabiraag and celebrated Rabindra sangeet singer Amina Ahmed started the event with a few Rabindra sangeet then performed some renowned tracks of Atul Prasad Sen and Rajanikanta. She closed her performance with some Indian classical music.
Promod Dutta later on performed some classical music along with some tracks marking the Mahalaya, the auspicious occasion heralding the advent of goddess Durga.
Many cultural personalities, classical music enthusiasts and journalists of Dhaka attended the event.
