Out of 37,243 applicants, 35 will battle for the top 20 positions today. Actors, Moushumi, Ferdous, and beautician Farzana Alom, are the jury board in this advance round. The contestants were selected on the basis of looks, education, and talent.
Moushumi commented on the versatility of applicants this year.
“It’s an extraordinary experience,” she said. “I can see myself in some of the contestants. There were many talented applicants this year. It’s a positive sign for us.”
The top 35 contestants are going through rigorous grooming sessions. They are currently being trained on presentation, singing, dancing, acting, and so on.
The competition will be televised starting September 27 and the winner will represent Bangladesh at the Miss World contest this year in London.
