Bangladeshi dance troupe Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre staged their latest production Ho Chi Minh, over the weekend, at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
According to a press release, the play is based on the life, journey, and philosophy of legendary Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh. There were also glimpses of another legendary leader Vladimir Lenin. The production was supported by the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Bangladesh.
The press release also states that Ho Chi Minh is the first-ever "biography dance theatre" in the world. Various government officials, diplomats, politicians, journalists, and eminent artistes were present on both of the staging of the production.
Ho Chi Minh was conceptualized, scripted, designed, choreographed, and directed by Pooja Sengupta. Suman Sarkar did the music. Atik Rahman did the Light design, and the makeover was done by MK Babu, and Subhasish Dutta.
The forty minute long biographical dance performance was presented by Aminur Rahman Mukul, Pooja Sengupta, Soud Chowdhury, Sreyoshee Troyi, Susmita Lopa, Robin Basak, Md Farhad Ahmed, Faria Parvez, Lopa Adhikari, Susmita Adrika, Uzzwal Mondal, Plabon Rozario, Hasibur Siam, Apurbo Dhar, Niporna Dey, and many others.
Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre staged their production Waterness on January 21 of this year. In the past four years, the repertory has brought many short length choreographies, but Ho Chi Minh is their second full-length dance theatre after Waterness.
