Invited guests at the Pan-Pacific Sonargaon Hotel were in for a surprise when singer Moinul Hasan Noble, of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame, took the stage at the launch of Zee5 in Bangladesh on Wednesday afternoon.
Actors Chanchal Choudhury, Masuma RahmanNabila and Airin Sultana were in the front row, listening to Noble’s renditions of Aiyub Bachchu and James songs. Even though cameras swarmed around the actors, Chanchal recorded the performance on his phone as Shei Tumi conjured mass nostalgia in the dimly lit grand ballroom.
At the event, ZEE5 announced that the largest global streaming platform for South Asians is now available in Bangladesh in the form of a “freemium” app, where some video content is free and premium content can be enjoyed through a subscription. The subscription can be bought through the mobile wallet of Robi/Airtel.
Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 Global, shared the platform’s vision of establishing a “deep partnership” with Bangladesh by working closely with local talent and production houses, giving them a global platform.
The streaming platform will launch six projects in Bangla over the next year. For these projects, it will work with some leading artists from the local entertainment industry. It will also organize a talent hunt for fresh new faces to cast in these shows.
Ushasi Ray, who plays the titular role in the drama “Bokul Katha,” flew in from India to attend the event. Robi Managing Director and CEO Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Chief Commercial Officer Praddeep Shrivastava, and Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam were also present at the program.
All the stars addressed the event, welcoming this collaboration through which they can showcase their work to audiences across the globe.
