Alpha, the third film directed by Nasiruddin Yousuff, is set to be screened at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on July 13. The screening will be followed by an open discussion on the film.
The screening, which is being organized by Bangladesh Short Film Forum with support from Shilpakala Academy, is open to all. It will begin at the National Art Gallery auditorium at 5pm, and representatives of the Bangladesh film industry are expected to participate in the discussion after the screening.
In 1993, Nasiruddin Yousuff adapted a Shahriar Kabir novel to make the film "Ekattorer Jishu." Around 17 years later, Yousuff adapted Syed Shamsul Hauqe's novel "Nishiddho Loban" to make the film "Guerrilla," released in 2011. However, the director's third film "Alpha" was made from Yousuff's own story and screenplay, and was released on April 26 this year.
The Bangladesh government has already sent Alpha to the upcoming Saarc Film Festival for screening. The plot revolves around an artist’s inner conflicts and struggles as he adapts to the realities of city life.
The lead roles of the film are played by new actors Alamgir Kabir and Doyel Mash. The film also stars veteran actor ATM Shamsuzzaman, Hira Chowdhury, Ishrat Nishat, Mostafiz Noor Imran, and Bhaskar Rasa.
Faridur Reza Sagar and Esha Yousuff produced the film under Impress Telefilm Ltd. The film was edited by Catherine Masud.
