An arrest warrant has been issued for singer Mila not being present as a witness in the woman and child repression case filed against her former husband, Parvez Sanjari.
Judge Md Sharif Uddin of the Metropolitan Court of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 9 issued the order on Sunday.
Bench officer Motiur Rahman confirmed the news to Dhaka Tribune.
Mila filed a lawsuit in 2017 and the court charged her husband, Parvez Sanjari, in a 2018case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Mila was summoned for not showing up as a witness before the court for more than one and a half years. As such, the Tribunal issued a non bailable arrest warrant.
The court also asked the lawyer why she should not be charged with contempt of court for questioning the court, honorable judge, wise lawyers, and other parties, on social media at different times.
On October 5, 2017, Mila filed a lawsuit against her husband with the Uttara West Police Station on physical abuse and demanding dowry charges. Police arrested Sanjari when she filed the case.
