Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) is organising a musical performance of Rabindra Sangeet to be performed by Kamal Ahmed at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the capital on April 9 at 6pm.
Kamal Ahmed, director, External Service of Bangladesh Betar, has long been performing on BTV and other private channels, including the likes of Tara TV from India. Despite serving in the civil service, Ahmed has pesuaded his career in music thanks to his great enthuasiasm for music. Ahmed took extensive training from Chhayanaut under the direct supervision of Wahidul Haque, Ikhtiar Omar, Sirajus Salekin and Ustad Ful Mohammad.
A prolific singer, Ahmed has already released fourteen solo and one mixed audio album since 2007. Some of them are – Sada Megher Bhela, Nana Ronger Dinguli, Godhuli (A tribute to Kishore Kumar), Baluka Belay (a tribute to Hemanta Mukherjee), Mohakabyer Kobi (A tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman).
Ahmed has recieved several awards for his contribution in music including the prestigious SAARC Cultural Society Award and Bangabandhu Research Foundation Award.
