Prominent musician Subir Nandi’s health condition has deteriorated. He suffered another heart attack yesterday and his current condition is currently at stake, according to his son-in-law Rajesh Shikder.

This is the third heart attack he suffered since being flown to Singapore following Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s instructions for his further treatment. He also suffered another cardiac arrest while admitted to the capital’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

Nandi is currently admitted to Singapore General Hospital’s Medical Intensive Care Unit  (MICU). Bangladesh’s National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute’s National Coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen is monitoring his treatment with the Singapore doctors.

Samanta Lal Sen is in contact with Singapore General Hospital officials and moderating Nandi’s treatment. He recently told the press that Subir Nandi’s condition is worsening and suffered several heart attacks while he was on life support.

The Ekushey-Padak-winning musician was admitted to CMH for 16 days after the PM instructed he be moved to Singapore, on April 30, for advanced medical care.

The veteran musician was returning home from Sylhet, by train, on April 14 when he began to feel unwell. The train was stopped at Cantonment Railway Station, and Subir was taken to the CMH immediately.

Upon his arrival, Subir suffered a heart attack around 11pm and was put on life support at the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit.

The 66-year-old singer was recently awarded the Ekushey Padak for his innumerable contributions to Bangla culture and arts. He has also received four national awards and countless others for his phenomenal musicianship. His career—spanning over four decades—began with Sylhet Radio in 1967. Since then, he has sung over 2,500 songs, frequently collaborating with some of the best artists in the industry.
