In response to singer Mila Islam’s accusations, her ex-husband Parvez Sanjari took to Facebook on Saturday to tell his side of the story. In his long status, he denied all of Mila’s accusations and made some allegations of his own.

He started by saying he feels he needs to speak up for himself and his family, as his silence is being seen as weakness.

He said Mila, being the “ghorer bou” of a joint family, wore indecent clothing in front of house guests and ordered his maids and caretakers to buy her cigarettes, which went against his values.

He said when his family also became the target of her wrath, he decided to get a divorce. Afterwards, he was arrested from his workplace for domestic abuse and dowry, he added.

“She sent me to jail and then visited me there saying she would free me if I leave my parents,” he wrote.

Parvez claimed that he never even said anything defamatory to Mila.

“It is clear from her statements that her aim is to destroy my career with false allegations,” he added.

He concluded the long status by asking everyone to pray for him and his family.

Parvez told Dhaka Tribune Showtime that the singer’s claims are baseless.

On Wednesday, singer Mila called a press conference in the capital where she broke down in tears saying her ex-husband subjected her to domestic abuse and neglect.
