Ryan Gosling explains Oscar giggles

Update : 23 Mar 2017, 10:20 PM
A lot has happened at this year’s Oscars and the shocking Moonlight-La La Land best picture mix-up is obviously on top the list as it’s been even considered as the most historically bizarre Oscar moment ever. But there were also other things that happened after the unprecedented gaffe and La La Land actor Ryan Gosling’s giggles after the announcement stands out among them. The actor’s giggle after the flub caught quite a few attentions thereafter. Gosling was looking all surprised yet amused. But as it turns out, he wasn’t just covering up his disappointment that the Best Picture award went to Moonlight instead of La La Land through his giggle. As the 36-year-old actor told Adobe CMO Ann Lewnes at the Adobe Summit in Las Vegas on Wednesday, “What really was happening as I was watching, it was surreal anyway, I was watching people start to have this panicked reaction in the crowd and guys were coming on with headsets and I felt like someone had been hurt.” “I thought there was some kind of medical situation, and I had this worst-case scenario playing out in my head,” he added. “And then I just heard Moonlight won and I was so relieved that I started laughing.” Gosling also confirmed that he had no hard feelings that the film he starred in didn’t win the top prize. “Truthfully, I was very thrilled that Moonlight won. I know the director [Barry Jenkins] … I’ve worked with them before. It’s such a groundbreaking film, made for a million dollars, and incredible achievement and I’m so happy for them that they were being recognised,” Gosling explained.
