Recently deceased film-maker and director, Amjad Hossain, was laid to eternal rest in his home district of Jamalpur today. His body was taken to the Jamalpur High School playground at 10pm yesterday, where thousands of locals came to pay him their last respects with flowers.
Before the namaz-e-janaza, Jamalpur District Administration, Jamalpur District Parishad, Jamalpur Municipality, Police Administration, Language Martyr’s Moti Mia Foundation, Language and Muktisangram Research Centre, SM Theatre, district Shilpakala Academy, Udici, Amrito Theatre, Jamalpur High School, Prashanti School and College, Jamalpur Marylebone Cricket Club, Lokoj, Jamalpur Press Club, Amjad Hossain’s relatives and school friends, and various political and social organizations, including Awami League and BNP, put flowers on his coffin to pay their respects. Amjad Hossain’s two sons, actor and director Shazzad Hossain Dodul, and film-maker Sohel Arman, were present near the coffin.
After the namaz-e-janaza, Amjad Hossain was laid to rest next to his parents’ graves at the Jamalpur Municipality graveyard. Jamlapur residents from all walks of life participated in the namaz-e-janaza.
On the night of December 22, Amjad Hossain’s body was brought by a freezer ambulance to his home in the Ikbalpur neighborhood of Jamalpur town. Amjad Hossain passed away on December 14 at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok where he was undergoing treatment.
