Renowned filmmaker and actor Amjad Hossain’s body will reach Dhaka on Friday, reports UNB.
A flight of Bangladesh Airlines will carry the body from Thailand. The flight is scheduled to arrived around 7pm in the evening.
The veteran director breathed his last at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok on December 14.
On November 28, he was taken to Bangkok on a private jet. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took care of the expenditure for Amjad’s treatment.
He was admitted to the intensive care unit of Dhaka’s Impulse Hospital and was on life support after suffering a stroke at his residence on November 18.
President Abdul Hamid expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of the prominent film director.
Born on August 14, 1942 in Jamalpur, Amjad Hossain showed interest in arts and literature at an early age.
Apart from receiving multiple National Film Awards, Amjad Hossain won many accolades during his nearly 50-year career in the film industry including Agrani Bank Juvenile Literature Award, Bangla Academy Award and many more.
In 1992, Amjad Hossain received the Ekushey Padak.
